MACEDON, Kingdom of, Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (13.42 grams), 'Amphipolis III' mint, issued c. 323/2-316/5 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, AN monogram below, star on right, above **FILIP POU*. (cf.S.6683, Le Rider Pl.44, 6, but obverse die of Pl.44, 7, [p.121], M.95, Troxell type I3, group 3). In high relief, off centred and minor gash on horse on reverse, otherwise very fine and rare.
