IRAN, Nasir al-din Shah, (A.H.1264-1313, A.D. 1848-1896), gold medallic five tomans or award medal for valour, A.H. 1311 (A.D. 1893-4), mint of Tehran, obv. legend in four lines and circular legend around, rev. sun and lion to left, laurel and oak wreath around, (cf.KM.947). Nearly uncirculated and very rare.

This date was not in the Turath part II collection and the date appears unlisted for the five toman denomination, wheras a very similar example is known for a ten toman piece of this date (KM.947). Similar examples were in the Turath Collection but these are only noted for other dates (eg.A.H. 1300).
