SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.042 grams), Series I group B, Bactra mint, issued 280-268 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, rev. horned and bridled horse's head to right, around **BASILEOS ANTIOXOU* to left under arm a monogram of **D* within circle, (S.6870, Newell ESM 689, SNG Israel I (Spaer) 324). Dumpy flan, all known examples generally worn, porous surface, fine and very rare.
