HONG KONG, Japanese Military Occupation, Collection of Japanese military notes issued during the Japanese Occupation 25th December 1941 - 30th August 1945. consists of - overprinted issue, one, five, ten yen (1938), 100 yen (1944) (horizontal red bar overprint low - as illustrated in Ma), (Ma J1-J4), 100 yen another, variety with horizontal red bar overprint just touching the top of the five Japanese characters (Ma -); First Series, one, five, ten yen (1938), 100 yen both types (1944) (Ma J5-J9), (100 yen (Ma J8) Block '1'); Second Series (eleven characters), one, five, fifty yen (1939) (Ma J10, J11, J13); Third Series (seven characters), one, five, ten, fifty sen (1939-40), one, five, ten yen (Ma J18-J24). Fine - uncirculated. (20)
Ex Major Fred Pridmore collection. Pridmore probably acquired the notes when he visited Hong Kong after World War II.
