INDONESIA, countermarked coinage of Sumenep (on the eastern end of the Madura Island off the north-east coast of Java), silver cob four reales of Mexico city mint (officina F [c.1731-4] and J [c.1708-1723] noted, these issues of Philip V, [KM.40, 40a]); all countermarked with Sumenep in Arabic, one with countermark of five petal flower, as half real batu, c.1814, (KM.196.1-2, 197 [2], M.3179-3180). Countermarks very fine, host coins fine, all scarce. (3)
