JULIA DOMNA, wife of Septimius Severus, (A.D. 193-217), silver denarius, issued 196-211, Laodicea ad Mare mint, (3.020 grams), obv. draped bust to right of Julia Domna, around IVLIA AVGVSTA, rev. Pietas, veiled standing half left, before altar, raising both hands, around PIETAS PVBLICA, (BMC 612 [Severus], RIC 643 [Severus], C.156, S.1847). Large flan with attractive dark tone, extremely fine and scarce.
