CALIGULA, (A.D. 37-41), AE as, Rome mint, issued A.D. 37-38, (10.268 grams), obv. bare head of Caligula to left, around [C CAES]AR AVG GERMANICVS PON [M TR POT], rev. [VESTA] above, Vesta seated to left, veiled and draped seated on ornamental throne, holding patera and transverse sceptre, S C across field, (S.1803, RIC 38, BMC 46). Weak in places, minor surface roughness, otherwise fine.
