ATTICA, Aegina, (525/20-500 B.C.), silver stater, (9.412 grams), obv. smoothed shell sea turtle without row of dots down dorsal spine, rev. small incuse square, of 'Union Jack pattern' design with five sunken triangle compartments, (S.1858, Asyut Group III-IV, 'Small skew' cf.464, SNG Delepierre 1512, SNG Cop. 501, cf.Selinus hoard 99-100). Off centred obverse and reverse punches, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.

The light weight of this stater is unusual, no evidence of plating occurs or any of clipping.
