THRACE (MOESIA INFERIOR), Marcianopolis, Gordian III and Sarapis, (A.D. 238-244), AE 27, (13.356 grams), obv. Gordian III laureate bust to right facing Sarapis turreted bust to left, around M ANT **GORDIANO*C AV**G*, rev. Hera to left, holding sceptre and patera, around V**P* MHNO**FIL*OV MAPKIANO**POLIT, with **WN* in exergue, E reversed in field to left, (cf.S.3647, BMC -, Pick -). Black patina, nearly extremely fine and very rare for this reverse.
