LOW COUNTRIES, Antwerp, Ludwig IV of Bavaria, (1314-1347), gold chaise d'Or, (4.47 g), struck after 1338, obv. Ludwig seated facing on Gothic throne, holding sword and shield, within tressure of eight arcs, rev. ornate cross, with trefoils at ends, in quadrilobe, trefoils in quarters, (Delmonte, Or 223, De Mey 290, Friedberg 176). Areas of double striking, nearly very fine.
