CARIA, Islands, Rhodes, (125-88 B.C.), 'Plinthophoric' coinage, silver drachm, (2.89 g), Agemachos Magistrate, obv. radiate head of Helios to right, hair loose, rev. P O either side of rose with bud on right, to right radiate sun, above magistrate **AGEMACOS* (cf.S.5064, SNG Cop 801, Jenkins, Rhodian, Group A, 8, HGC 6, 1457). Irridescent toning, slight edge split, very fine or better and rare.
Ex D.G.L.Worland Collection. Previously CNG Auction 530, lot 250. Also the MWF Collection, purchased from John Twente, 12 September 1992, who acquired the coin from C. Rose, April 1991. With ticket.
