MACEDON, kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.35 g), Pella IIB mint, issued c. 336/5-329/8 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II?), on horseback to right, holding long palm branch, dolphin to right below, above **FILIP POU*. (S.6680, Le Rider 416, Pl.17, obv. die D221, rev. die R338, SNG ANS 423 [same obv. die], SNG Ash 2466. High relief, gash across horse test mark, otherwise round with attractive pale grey patination tone, nearly extremely fine and very rare.
