GEORGE VI, sterling silver salver, hallmarked Sheffield, 1938, maker John Henry Potter, of circular form with raised scalloped edges, inscribed 'Presented to / Mrs Innes / by Members of the Field Survey Battalions, R.E. / in appreciation of the work done by / Captain Innes / in compiling / "Flash Spotters and Sound Rangers" / A record of their work in the War. 1914-1918.', (weight 930 g), retailed by John Perry Nottingham. Very fine and scarce.
This salver was presented to the wife of Captain John R. Innes, author of 'Flash Spotters and Sound Rangers: How They Lived, Worked and Fought in the Great War' (1935). 
Capt. Innes who was the Adjutant of the 1st Field Survey Batt. R.E., he received a Mention in Despatches.
