ELAGABALUS, (A.D. 218-222), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 219, (24.1 grams), obv. laureate bust of Elagabalus draped and cuirassed to right, around IMP CAES M AVR ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, rev. around PONTIF MAX TR P II COS II P P, Roma seated to left, holding Victory and sceptre, shield by side (cf.S.2131 [£225 F], RIC 293, C.231). Light brown tone, good fine/very fine and rare.

Ex French dealer, Paris c.1954 (480 FFr.) and Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III Sale, New York, December 1999 (lot 1719 part) with the tickets.
