BASIL II & CONSTANTINE VII, period of (976-1025/8), copper follis (12.21 g), Anonymous Class A2, Constantinople mint, obv. Nimbate facing bust of Christ, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels, cross and pellets in nimbus, partial +EMMA NOVHA around, rev. four-line legend (Jesus Christ King of Kings) in latin, dotted circle and crosses above and below legend, (S.1813, DOC III A2.32, cf.Ra.1924-5, cf.BMC 11-12). Large flan, attractive brown patination, weakness on face of Christ, otherwise very fine or better and very rare as such for these symbols on the reverse.
