Estimate $350
Bid at live.noble.com.au
SOLD $360

AUSTRALIA'S COMMONWEALTH, 1899, in gold and enamel (tests as 9ct; 5.51g; 22.5mm) (C.1899/1 but modified), the reverse legend has been removed and replaced with an inscribed legend, 'H.Wirth, President, Shire of Marong', ring top suspension. Very fine.

On Thursday 14 September 1899 at a meeting of the Marong Shire Council, the retiring president, Councillor H.Wirth, presented the councillors and officers with suitably engraved gold medals in commemoration of the result of the Federal poll during his term of office. No doubt he would also have received one such medal.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
