BANK OF VAN DIEMEN'S LAND, Hobart Town, five pounds, [altered from one pound], July 1 1832 (year 18 printed), No. 9349, hand signed by W. Bunster and Charles McLachlan on printed form without imprint but believed to be engraved by Thomas Bock (Vort-Ronald [p.108-112]). Large segment of corner missing and many holes throughout note, rough edges all around the note, some stain marks on the back, otherwise poor-good and extremely rare.
See note above. This note was fraudulently altered from a one pound note to a five pound note and survived because it was an exhibit in the court case noted above.
Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
