GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 241, (2.66 g), obv. laureate bust right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Sol standing to left, holding globe, around AETERNITATI AVG, (S.8672, RIC 111, RSC 39); another issued 241-2, (3.00 g), obv. as above, rev. PIETAS AVGVSTI, Pietas standing left, both hands raised, (S.8677, RIC 127, RSC 69). Very fine or better. (2)
