ANCIENT GREEK COINS, Sicily or Southern Italy in copper, includes AE of Metapontum (425-350 B.C.), AE obol, 20mm, (7.36 g), obv. wreathed head of Demeter right, rev. grain ear, [OB]O**LOS* to left, poppy head to right, (S.621, Johnston Bronze 4, HN Italy 1640) (Ex CNG 240/22) (illustrated); another similar; Naples AE 19 (S.557); Rhegium AE 19, (cf.S.684); another AE 22 (S.685); another AE 22 (S.690); Akragas AE 21 issued by Phintias (S.1032); Syracuse AE 17 (S.1185); others, Hieron II AE 16, and AE 18 (S.1218); Agathokles AE 22, obv. Artemis head to right, rev. winged thunderbolt, (S.1200) (Illustrated); Hieron II, AE 27, (S.1221); another, AE 20 (S.1223); Seleucid, Alexander I, AE 13, obv. facing head of Medusa, rev. Pegasos right, (SNG Spaer 1480, CSE 207). Very good - nearly extremely fine, an interesting group. (14)
