ANCIENT GREEK COINS, a small group of silver, worn or porous, including an Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.84 g), uncertain mint, issued c.328-323 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated with parallel legs on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, two monograms uncertain to left, to right traces of **ALEXANDROU*. (cf.S.6730) (illustrated); Caria, Carian Islands, Rhodos (Rhodes), (387-304 B.C.), silver didrachm, (5.55 g), uncertain magistrate, obv. radiate head of Helios three-quarter face to right with hair loose, rev. rose, with bud on right, (S.5038); Akarnania, Leukas, (c.420-350 B.C.), silver drachm (1.82 g), obv. Pegasos flying to left, **L* below, rev. head of Aphrodite to left, wearing sakkos, (S.2278); Peloponnesos, Sicyonia, Sicyon, (330/320-280's B.C.), silver hemidrachm, (2.59 g), obv. chimaera to left, **SI* below, on ground line with right foreleg raised high, rev. dove flying to left, (cf.S.2774); Parthia, Gotarzes I, (c.95-90 B.C.), silver drachm, Rhagae mint, (3.86 g), obv. long bearded bust to left, wearing tiara, ornamented with horn, rev. archer enthroned to right, (cf.S.7394, Sell.33.4). Last coin holed, others worn, fine and porous. (5)
