SYRIA, Kingdom of, Seleukos I Nikator, (312-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm (17.09 g), Seleukeia on the Tigris mint first workshop, struck c.300-281 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress, dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated left, holding eagle and sceptre, in left field HMP monogram, K under throne, to right **SELEUKOU*, below in exergue **BASILE[WS]*, dotted border, (cf.S.6829. SC 117.1d, HGC 9, 12i). Toned, flan flaw on reverse, nearly extremely fine, rare.
