CILICIA, Tarsos, Mazaios, (361-334 B.C.), silver stater, (10.99 g), obv. Baal of Tarsos enthroned left, head facing, holding eagle, bunch of grapes and sceptre, before and behind Aramaic legend, rev. attacking lion to left on back of bull kneeling to left, Aramaic script "Mazdai" above, monogram and grain ear below, (S.5650, cf.BMC 52, SNG Levante 106, cf.SNG France 2, 335, cf.SNG Delepierre 2880). Toned, extremely fine and very rare variety.

Ex Dr. L.J. Sherwin Collection and from R.Loosley (Antiquarius) October 6, 1984 from list 5 April 1983 (item 24).
