LOKRIS, Lokris Opuntia, (c.380-338 B.C.), silver stater, (11.85 g), obv. head of Persephone left, wreathed with three wheat leaves and wearing a triple pendant earring, rev. OPONTI**WN* to left, Ajax advancing right, nude but for crested helmet, brandishing sword and shield decorated with a griffin, broken spear at feet, (cf.S.2326, SNG Cop 43.1, HGC 992, SNG Lockett 1692). Struck with rusted obverse dies, nearly very fine and rare.
