GROUP OF FIVE: British War Medal 1914-18; 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. 2/Lieut. L.McIver. R.A.F. on first medal, 250505 L Mciver on last four medals. All medals impressed. Display mounted, very fine - extremely fine.

Together with RFC pilot's wings in bullion, backing intact and unused modern issue; RAAF Other Ranks hat badge; WWII Female Relative's badge with one star, by G & E Rodd, 1943, reverse numbered AF29170; Demobilised Sailors Soldiers & Airmens Assn lapel badge in gilt and enamel, by Schlank, Adelaide, (19)43 slide over on crown; 'AAF Technical/US/Representative', (US Army Air Force Technical Representative), woven shoulder patch; Legacy 2/- fundraising badge.

Lewis McIver, grazier, born 25Aug1899 at London, England although on his application to enrol in the Air Force Reserve he stated that he was born in Melbourne; WWI: served in military in 1914 when he was 15 and in 1916 when he was 17 he joined Inns of Court Regiment Officer Training Corps, serial number 11890 as a Private and then promoted to 2Lt in RFC and RAF and by 1918 at the age of 18 he was serving as a pilot and instructor in RFC and RAF stationed at Doncaster and Gatwick air base, Yorkshire and did a special course of flying at Redcar Aerodrome, North Yorkshire, attaining rank of Acting/Flight Commander; WWII: (In Australia) Enl.07Nov1939 in General Duties Branch of Citizen Air Force; Trf to Administrative & Special Duties Branch, CAF; promotions F/O 02Jul1940, T/Lt 01Jan1942, T/Sqn Ldr 01Apr1943; various postings and attachments including to flying schools and also to Station HQs Port Moresby, NG 01Apr1942, and No.28 O.B.U. (Operational Base Unit), Horn Island 30Oct1942; Appt terminated 08Feb1949 as Sqn Ldr at Laverton Air Base; Died 28Aug1973 at Camberwell, Vic and buried at Springvale, Greater Dandenong City, Vic.
