Arthur Percival Smith, mechanical mining engineer, age 37yrs, born St Arnaud, Vic; Enl.07Jan1916 1 Australian Tunnelling Coy; Emb.20Feb1916 Sydney; promoted Lieut 15Jun1916; KIA 29Jun1916 France; buried Cite Bon Jean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France.

Believed to be the first Mining Corps Officer to be killed on the Western Front.
