DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS, copy, together with a range of RAAF badges and official record books as well as other items as listed below, all attributed to 423187 R.S.Troy RAAF. Very good - very fine.

Lot includes the following items; hexagonal fibre compound dog tag named to 'AUS 423187/Airman/R S Troy/CE RAAF'; RAAF Enlisted Man's hat badge; embroidered badges for Pilot, Navigator (2), pair of shoulder boards for Flying Officer; arm eagle badges (2, different); b&w photo of R.S.Troy as LAC; 'Royal Canadian Air Force, Sight Log Book' named to R.S.Troy. AUS423187, from 19.01.43 to 25.8.1944; Royal Canadian Air Force, 'Flying Log Book for Aircrew other than Pilot' named to Troy, R.S. RAAF, from 15-11-42 to 13-2-45; a small leather folder with metal RAAF badge affixed and inside is included a personal note book, several letters including one from RAAF congratulating Flt Lt Troy on being awarded the DFC, a few Canadian, Great Britain and USA postage stamps in a small stamp holder and an Australian 1926 halfpenny; a pair of wool lined black leather gloves with the buttons marked, 'Morton/Pick/Winnipeg'.

DFC: LG 19/1/1945, p472' CAG 25/1/1945, p164, to Pilot Officer Ronald Sydney Troy (423187), No.635 Squadron (RAF).

Citation: Pilot Officer Troy has completed numerous operations against the enemy in the course of which he has invariably displayed the utmost fortitude, courage and devotion to duty.

Ronald Sydney Troy, school teacher, born 22May1914, at Mittagong, NSW; Enl.20Jun1942 at No.2 Recruiting Centre, Sydney as AC2; to LAC 12Sep1942; Sgt 05Mar1942; F/Sgt Emb.03Oct1942; to Canada 21Oct1942 and attachment to RCAF for training; awarded Flying badge 05Mar1943; to England 04Apr1943 for attachment to RAF; Flying Officer 19Feb1944; served as Navigator with various units including 25Sqn 16Mar1944 and 635 Sqn 30Apr1944; Pilot Officer 19Aug1944; Flight Lieutenant 01Nov1944; Awarded Pathfinder Force badge 22Feb1945; Disch.09Sep1945 and transfer to Reserve.
