GROUP OF SIX: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Territorial Efficiency Decoration (GVIR). The first five medals unnamed and the last medal is inscribed on the reverse, '1950', all as issued. The first five medals have no ribbons, otherwise uncirculated.
Together with case of issue for Territorial Efficiency Decoration and a spare ribbon as well as a small conferral letter addressed to Captain E.D.Couper, T.D.; packets of issue and medal leaflet for WWII medals all in delivery box issued in June 1951 addressed to Capt. E.D.Couper, Kaimend, North Berwick, East Lothian. (Kaimed at North Berwick was the family residence of Sir John C. Couper, Writer to the Signet and also secretary of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers at Muirfield and his wife, formerly Elsie Blyth. She inherited the property after the death of her father, Benjamin Hall Blyth, who built it in 1885 and it overlooked the famous 'Redan' par 3-hole with a sloping green on the North Berwick's West Links and the Children's course, formerly the Ladies' 9-hole links.)
The lot also includes the following family items.
1. Aysgarth School uniface prize medal in silver (26mm), with ring top suspension, hallmarked for Birmingham 1929 by maker, 'E & Co', reverse inscribed, 'P.T. Winning Set/1930'; another hallmarked for 1930 and reverse inscribed, 'Sack Race/(Over 11 1/ 2)/1st/1931'. (Aysgarth School is an independent day and boarding preparatory school in North Yorkshire, England.)
2. Yachting prize medal in bronze (31.5mm), ring top suspension, obverse, small racing yacht in ocean, reverse, plaque in centre with fish at each side, the plaque inscribed, 'G.Y.C./1945'.
3. Yacht Club Adriaco 30th Anniversary medal 1903-43 in bronze (30mm), ring top suspension, obverse, ancient sailing ship, reverse, castle and 'Trieste/29-30 VI 46'.
4. Royal Artillery (KC) lapel badge (or sweetheart brooch), in gold and enamel (9ct; 3.36g).
5. Queen's Body Guard stud buttons (3) in enamel and appears to be gold (probably 9ct; tot wt 6.18g).
