CENTENNIAL INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION MELBOURNE, 1888, in bronze (76mm) (C.1888/8), dies by Stokes & Martin, Melbourne and struck by Royal Mint, Melbourne, edge impressed, 'M. Macfie Esq.'. A few small tone spots, otherwise extremely fine.
Mr M. Macfie was the editor of the official catalogue for the Melbourne Centennial International Exhibition. On 30 January 1888 at a special meeting of the members of the Victorian Chamber of Manufactures held at the Melbourne Exchange Mr Macfie read a paper he prepared titled 'The Federation of the Australian Colonies'. He was congratulated and the content of the paper was whole heartedly supported by those present.
