EPEIROS, Federal coinage, (Epirote Republic) (c.148-50 B.C.), AE 20, (5.76 g), obv. bearded laureate head of Zeus to left, rev. thunderbolt **APEI /RWTAN* in two lines above and below all within an oak wreath, (S.1999, BMC 47, SNG Cop. 128, HGC 3, 180[R2]). Dark patination, weakness in centre of reverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine, very rare.
