NAVAL GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1793-1840, - clasp - 23rd June 1795, with small suspension loop fitted at top of clasp. Geo. Hugh. Impressed. Contact marks, otherwise good fine.

Clasp entitlement confirmed to George Hugh, L.M., Royal George.

L.M. (Landsman) was a seaman with less than one year's experience.

This clasp was awarded for action with the French Fleet and the capture of three sail of the line, off Isle de Groix, Brittany. The HMS Royal George served as the flagship at the Battle of Groix.
