THE COMMERCIAL BANK OF AUSTRALIA, one pound, Melbourne Dec 18 1909 (ink rubber stamped date) No C851305 (MVR 1), signatures F.E.Power and J.Sammson (for Manager), Chinese script vertically on left and right, floral pattern border, imprint 'Sands and McDougall Stationers, Melbourne'. A full note, multiple creases, five pin-holes, otherwise very fine and extremely rare, only two others known.

A recent discovery note in Melbourne. Chinese text translates 'one pound New Gold Mountain' (Melbourne after the Gold Rush). Text was to attract the Chinese minority in the population. See Noble Numismatics Sale 120 (lot 4232) for a similar note, but domiciled Sydney.
