Able Seaman Gabriel (Gabe) Edward Blanckley Dennis; born 06Oct1870 at Parramatta, NSW, the son, and ninth child, of Irish immigrants; Emb.08Aug1900 on SS Salamis; RTA 25Apr1901 on SS Chingtu; married Esther Prince at Parramatta 26Dec1901 and they had 8 children, all born at Parramatta; Gabe was employed by Sydney Ferries Ltd for 39 years; Died 27Nov1943 at Westmead near Parramatta; funeral service held at St John's Church of England at Parramatta and he was buried at the Church of England Cemetery at Prospect; his wife, Esther, died 08Sep1956 and is buried in the same grave and one of their sons, James, who died at age 84 on 02Jun1991 is buried next to them.
