GROUP OF EIGHT TO NAVY DIVER: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Burma Star, - clasp - Pacific; War Medal 1939-45; Defence Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45; General Service Medal 1962-2007, - two clasps - Borneo, Malaya Peninsula; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (EIIR without Br.Omn). 19916 J.G.Harvey on first six medals, R19916 J.G.Harvey on seventh medal, CPO J.G.Harvey R19916 R.A.N. on last medal. All medals impressed. Swing mounted, contact marks and toning, otherwise nearly very fine.

LS&GCM awarded 1/1/1963.

Together with matching set of ribands with rosette on Burma Star riband; Petty Officer Underwater Weapons arm badge; various photos including studio portrait in uniform; letters and cards, some marked 'Opened By Censor'; Navy printed papers relating to Diving Training and other Navy related documents.

Joseph Gerard Harvey, born 11Feb1916 at Liverpool, UK; left England for Australia 05Mar1925 at age 9; Enl.09Apr1934 at Sydney in RAN at age 18; married 22Sep1939 to Mildred Margaret Massart (born in Dubbo, NSW in 1912); served in WWII in Middle East and at the Battle of the Coral Sea in the Pacific; qualified as Diver II in 1942; confirmed as CPO 13Jul1950; during most of the 1960s served aboard the minesweeper HMAS Snipe and with Far East Strategic Reserve during the Confrontation; final rank CPO Underwater Weapons with last posting as Instructor at Anti-submarine Warfare School; Disch.10Feb1971 after 37 years of service.
