GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), silver antoninianus, Rome mint, issued 240-244, (5.602), obv. radiate bust of Gordian III to right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. AETENITATI AVG around, Sol standing to left, holding globe, (S.2430, RIC 83, RSC 41); together with denarius, ((2.292 grams), obv. similar, laureate bust right, rev. VIRTVTI AVGVSTI around, Hercules standing right. leaning on club set on rock, (S.2478, RIC 116, RSC 403). Nearly extremely fine and second with ragged edge. (2)
