NETHERLANDS, Amsterdam, besieged by the troops of the States, square uniface silver 40 (XL) Sols, 1578, (26.99 g), obv. crowned arms of the city above 1578/XL, in two stamped designs, briquet countermark above (Brause-Mansfeld (1903) Plate 14, 3; v.Gelder 121, Delmonte 198). Toned, good very fine, rare.

Struck from chandeliers, lamps and vases from the church of Notre Dame.
