ARNOTTS' FAMOUS BISCUITS, card advertising fan, c1930s-40s, in thick board (approx 20.8x27.7cm), front with the famous Arnott's multicoloured parrot eating a biscuit and the back features life-size images of five types of biscuits. Some loss of board at top of fan handle, a few creases and scuffing around edge and some age toning, otherwise fine.

It is believed that the parrot was originally drawn in 1888 by Leslie Arnott, daughter-in-law of the company founder, William Arnott, and although some may think it is based on an Australian bird it is thought that the model used was a Mexican parrot given to William Arnott by the Captain of a Newcastle coal ship. The above advertising fan was believed to have been distributed through Easter show bags.
