NEW ZEALAND, Prospectus of the Timaru Tannery and Boot Factory Company, dated 1889; also a Notice of Third Call on 20 partly paid shares dated 14 May 1890 and addressed to A.Burnett Esq, Timaru; The Bruce Woollen Manufacturing Company Limited (at Milton, Otago), share certificate no.19 for 200 ordinary shares in the name of Margaret McCorkindale of Waitahuna and dated 8 August 1928, stamped with company seal, unsigned stub for receipt of shares still attached at side. Fine - very fine. (3)

Andrew Burnett was a Scottish immigrant to New Zealand in 1861 and a notable pioneer in New Zealand's history of Mount Cook Station. He bought a house in Timaru around 1876 where the family lived while the children were schooled and later the house on Perth Street was donated to the South Canterbury Historical Society.

The Timaru Tannery was short-lived. It floated on 19 March 1890, and went into liquidation on 22 December 1890 and wound up by March 1892.
