THE SYDNEY COLLEGE PROSPECTUS, 1830, a Prospectus of The Sydney College, New South Wales; with A Short Statement of the Proceedings of the Committee of Management, issued without cover, 14pp, printed by R.Mansfield for the Executors of R.Howe. With foxing, otherwise in fine condition and scarce.

The Prospectus was issued to raise money for The Sydney College which was to be a redesignation of The Sydney Public Free Grammar School which had opened in 1825 with Rev. L.H.Halloran D.D. as Headmaster. On 26 January 1830 the foundation stone for the new college was laid in College Street, Sydney and in 1835 The Sydney College opened with W.T.Cape as Headmaster. In 1850 The Sydney College closed and the Sydney Grammar School was founded in 1854 by Act of Parliament to replace it in the College Street buildings.
