GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, (24.62 g), issued 239, Rome mint, obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, rev. Abundantia standing right, emptying cornucopiae, around ABVNDANTIA AVG, S C across, (S.8697, RIC 274a, C.1). Dark brown patination, very fine and scarce.

Ex Dr V.J.A.Flynn Collection and previously CNG Auction 241, lot 464. With ticket.
