M & C (MORAN & CATO), medal in gold (15ct, 13g, 33x34mm) with loop mount, reverse inscribed 'Presented to/ Mr J.W.Dickson/by/Moran & Cato Pty Ltd/in recognition of/25 Years Faithful Service/1897-1922'. Extremely fine.

Moran & Cato was the largest chain of grocery stores in Australia in the late 19th and early 20th century with branches in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales. The partnership was established in Melbourne in 1881 between cousins Frederick Cato and Thomas Edwin Moran who had two stores in Fitzroy and Carlton. In 1969 the company was taken over by Permewan Wright Limited.
