SOLD $5,600

CHINA, Republic, general Issue, silver dollar, undated but an issue of 1923, (27.00 g), obv. President Tsao Kun facing partly to left in civilian dress, rev. two crossed flags, (KM.K.677 & Kann 677). Brilliant good extremely fine or better and very rare.

The issue was minted at Tientsin in commemoration of General Tsao Kun succession to the Presidency of China in 1923. The issue of these silver pieces was in size and weight equal to one dollar coins and although not inscribed with a denomination could have circulated without hindrance. The coin features an intricately designed facing bust of President Tsao Kun and this piece exhibits lustrous, mirrored surfaces, with some light cleaning marks which fail to detract from its brilliance. An exceptional example.
