ALEXIUS I, (1081-1118) silver histamenon nomisma, (4.29 g), struck at Constantinople mint, scyphate flan, issued 1081-1092, obv. bust of Christ facing, with nimbus, rev. Alexius I bust facing bearded wearing loros and crown, in right hand sceptre surmounted by cross with floral arrangements, and in left hand globe with cross, double border, (S.1894, H.Pl.1, 5-8, R.2061). Large flan, good very fine and scarce.

Ex D.J.Foster Collection and previously from Spink Noble Sale 44 (lot 1292).
