REPUBLIC, Anonymous (Aes Grave) Series, (c.280-269 B.C.), Rome mint, AE sextans, heavy series, (60.56 g), obv. scallop shell, two pellets across field, rev. caduceus, two pellets across field, (S.551, Cr.14/5, Syd.12, Thurlow & Vecchi 5a). Deeply toned, slight casting flaw at base, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.
