MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.15 g), Macedon, Amphipolis mint, issued c.323-320 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, Phrygian helmet to left, to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 113). Compact flan, slight hoard patination, good very fine or better and scarce.
