JULIA MAMAEA, mother of Severus Alexander, (A.D.222-235), silver denarius, issued c.226, Rome mint, (2.64 g), obv. diademed and draped bust to right of Julia Mamaea, IVLIA MA MAEA AVG around, rev. VESTA, Vesta standing half-left holding palladium and sceptre, (S.8217, RIC 360, RSC 76). Slight surface pitting, otherwise deeply toned, extremely fine.
