SS Pericles of the Aberdeen White Star Line was launched in 1907 at Belfast. In 1910 on its 4th voyage between England and Australia it was returning to London from Sydney when it hit an uncharted rock near Cape Leeuwin, Western Australia. The weather was calm so all passengers and crew were able to abandon ship safely and it sank shortly after.
