ATTICA, Athens, (449-413 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.65 g), issue c.420 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right wearing ivy crested helmet, eye in profile, countermark on cheek, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, olive twig and crescent behind, to right, **AQE, all in incuse square, countermark of Semetic 'aleph' in reverse field (S.2526, Kroll 8, BMC 62, cf.Starr Pl.XXII). Uneven tone, cut across owl's neck on reverse, otherwise good fine.
