GREAT BRITAIN, two new pence, 1971 (S.4235) struck incorrectly in nickel, also a two new pence, 1989 in bronze for comparison. The first with edge nicks and scuffing, otherwise very fine, the second with some tone spots, otherwise nearly uncirculated. (2)

A similar error occurred with a 1988 two new pence. In that case it was thought that a nickel blank had been left in the feed barrel used during the minting process and was included in a mint roll by accident. That coin was in mint condition and realised 1,314.50 at Charterhouse Auctions in Dorset in July 2014 on an estimate of 100-200.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
