PERTINAX, (A.D. 193), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 193, (2.36 g), obv. Pertinax head laureate to right, around IMP CAE[S P H]ELV PERTIN AVG, rev. around PROVID DEOR COS II, Providentia standing to left, holding up hand to star and other on breast, (S.6046, RIC 11a, BMC 13, S.-). Porous surface and tooled, with some surface marks, breaks in flan edge, otherwise fine and very rare.

Ex D.J.Foster Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 45 (lot 2328) and previously from Christies London Nov. 11, 1979 (lot 514 part).
