AUGUSTUS, as Octavian, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, mint moving with Octavian, issued 37 B.C., (4.12 g), obv. Octavian head to right bearded, around [IMP CAE]SAR DIVI F III VI[R ITER R P C], rev. simpulum, sprinkler, jug and lituus, border of dots, around COS ITER ET TER DESIG, (S.1544, Cr.538/1, C.91, Syd.1334, BMC Gaul 116). Off-centre on obverse, lightly toned, otherwise good very fine and rare.

Ex D.J.Foster Collection and previously from Spink Noble Sale 45 (lot 1783) the Richard A. Williams Collection.
